For the first time in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s storied 40+ year history, fans got to experience NJPW live outside of Japan and make history with two huge events in the United States. These red hot ticket events sold out both nights in minutes, these shows instantly became must see for fans all over the world.
Held at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Centre, the G1 Special in USA played host to the inaugural IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship Tournament. The tournament would be split over the two shows with the winner being crowned on night two and would be presented with the new title belt!
The single elimination tournament participants include Jay Lethal, Hangman Page, Juice Robinson, Zack Sabre Jr., Tomohiro Ishii, Tetsuya Naito, Michael Elgin & Kenny Omega.
The First night of the G1 special features the 4 tournament first round matches and also the IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. ROH champion, Cody, in a first time ever meeting!
In non tournament action, The Bullet Club of Bad Luck Fale, Marty Scurll and The Young Bucks take on the Chaos team of Roppongi Vice, The Briscoe Brothers and Will Ospreay and lots more multi-man tag team action with Hiromu Takahashi, Jyushin Thunder Liger, KUSHIDA and Hiroshi Tanahashi
And furthermore, War Machine vs, Guerrillas of Destiny in a No DQ match for the IWGP Tag Team Championship!
The second night features the semi-finals and the final, who will be crowned the first ever IWGP US Heavyweight Champion?
Also The Young Bucks look to further establish their name as best IWGP Jr. Heavyweights as they defend their titles vs Roppongi Vice. Once again Bullet Club clash with Chaos in a multi-man tag team match with different members squaring off including: Cody, Marty Scurll, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay & More.
Plus another title match as "The Ace of New Japan" Hiroshi Tanahashi defend his IWGP Intercontinental Championship against worldwide US superstar Billy Gunn! and so much more.
Both nights are available on Double Disc DVD sets, run-time is at around three hours and forty minutes and feature English Commentary, Region Free, NTSC Format and will play anywhere in the world.
